Passed away at Trinity Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 22, 2025 after a head injury received the previous day. He was born in East Detroit, Michigan (now Eastpointe) on May 26, 1953. Son of Thomas E. and Sylvia M. Taylor. He graduated from Ypsilanti High School the class of 1971. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1976 with a Teaching Certificate in High School English and Physical Education. Walter taught English in Texas and later taught English as a missionary in Taiwan. He returned to Michigan in 2022 to be a companion to his mother and to undergo cancer treatments. Walter was a natural athlete who loved all kinds of sports. He maintained life long friendships with his old Ypsilanti neighborhood friends. He was active in his church. He leaves behind one brother, two sisters, two nieces, one nephew and one grand-niece.
A memorial service is being planned. Time to be announced.
