Shawn L. Cameron, Jr. Obituary

The Life and Legacy of Shawn

Shawn Love’to Cameron Jr. (Cam) The shock, the tears, the pain-God already knew. God knew the very moment that our beloved Shawn would be called home to eternal rest on May 20, 2024. Shawn Love’to Cameron was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 19, 1987, to the late Shawn Love’to Cameron Sr. and Stacey M. Mack. He was the eldest of their two sons. He completed his education in the Ypsilanti Public School System, where he graduated with the class of 2005. He dedicated his life to the Lord as a young child at Christian Love Fellowship International under the leadership of the late Apostle Robert L. Hill and Pastor Barbara Hill. On March 20, 2022, he rededicated his life to the Lord and was baptized under Bishop Clifton and Pastor Ernestine Howard at Abiding Love Community Church International.

In 1994 at the age of seven, Shawn was introduced to the Ypsilanti Jr. Braves Football team. Football became his love and passion and he thrived playing the sport. He was known for his ability to own the field on offense and defense. Upon entering Ypsilanti High School in 2001, he elevated his game while playing at the Varsity level. He was very skilled in his ability to read and execute plays.

Shawn had his share of trials and tribulations, but his foundation of “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) allowed him to triumph over many situations where others had counted him out. Shawn had two foundations in his life: football and God. He always knew good, but now he was doing good and many were able to share in his transformation. Shawn was at a great place in his life. He was able to bridge his passion for the love of football with being a coach and providing encouragement for the youth based on his own experiences in life. His joy and passion could be seen on the sidelines at practice and at games with the Maize Football team. Shawn had just finished practicing football with his team before the Lord called him home.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father; Shawn Love’to Cameron Sr., Paternal grandparents; Elouise (Peppie) Watkins and James Cameron; Great uncle and Robert (Uncle Bob) Mack.
