Renea Dent passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 59.
Renea was born on June 11, 1964, in Ann Arbor, MI, to Obie Dent and Patricia Williams. She attended Mackenzie High School in Detroit, MI, where she was a very bright student. In school, she participated in talent shows. She was an excellent singer and a great dancer.
After high school, she moved back to Ann Arbor with her family. She worked in hospitality for many years. She loved to clean and kept everything around her nice and neat.
Renea was the comedian of the family. She kept everyone that she came in contact with in tears! She wanted everyone one around her to be happy, so she made them laugh. She met no strangers. Even when she became ill, she’d still make people laugh. That’s what we’re going to miss most about her.
Renea was preceded in death by her father Obie Dent, her stepfather Forrest Neal, her paternal grandparents, her maternal grandparents Curtis Williams, and Musedora Bigham, her brother Roy “Punkin” Neal, and her niece Jasmine Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Karmetta Dent and Antwan McNeeley, her mom Patricia Neal, her brothers Delbert (Laverne) Williams, Reginald Thomas, and Forrest Neal. She also leaves her only sister, Donnette Thomas. Her grandchildren Aa’Niyah Renea Hesterly, Roy Lamar Dent, Da’Meisha Ann Dent, A’Dora Donnette Dent, JoeVon Danyel Coward, JoeQan Danyel Coward, Deveon Ellerson, Angel Antoinette McNeeley, Antwan McNeeley, Jr., Lamarra Danette McNeeley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
