Clyde Milton Sisson Jr., age 79 passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday 19 May 2023. He was born on 27 September 1943 in Ann Arbor, MI to the union of Clyde Milton Sisson Sr. and Vollie Mae Sisson (née Robinson). In addition to his parents, Clyde was loved by his devoted God-parents Mr. Sam and Maureen Davis of Ypsilanti, MI who nurtured and guided him through his formative years into adulthood.
As a true child of Ypsilanti, he attended the local public schools where he forged an unbreakable bond of brotherhood with Raymond Chauncey, Robert "Bob" Hunter (decd), and Stanley "Pepper" Hill (decd). After graduating from Ypsilanti High School, Clyde was enrolled at Jackson Community College prior to attending trade school to become a plumber. Upon completing his formal trade school education, Clyde began his tenure as a Journeyman plumber with the University of Michigan before transitioning over to Eastern Michigan University where he retired in 2008.
An avid football fan, Clyde loved spending time watching college and NFL games, so much so, if you blocked the television while he was watching, he would quickly remind you that "you're not made of glass" the warning before he might toss something at you. He will always be remembered for his loud and infectious laugh, bright smile, his intellect, love for fishing, being an automobile enthusiast, cooking barbeque and of course his delicious homemade BBQ sauce.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Vollie Sisson, God-parents Sam and Maureen Davis.
Memories of Clyde Milton Sisson Jr. will forever be a source of joy to those of us who loved him, and he will continue to live on in our hearts and minds.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and faithful wife Joyce Sisson (née Jackson), three beautiful daughters, Carmen Sisson-Mitchell and Cheri (Haywood) Sisson-Hampton both of Jackson, MI, and Patricia Scott of Ypsilanti, MI; six grandchildren Michael Jr., Celeste, Chasity, Christopher, Haylee, and Haydon; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Verda Sisson of Morganton, NC, sisters-in-law Brenda Givens, Arneardra Jackson, Deborah Brady, Vickie Jackson, Janice Jackson, Caryn Jackson of Cincinnati, OH; a nephew Alan Sisson, Sr. of Burton, MI and niece Maria (Patrice) Kersey-Robinson of Accokeek, MD; and five great-nephews.
Loved ones were important to Clyde and he didn't believe in signifiers such as "step" and "half." The following individuals includes his beloved bonus family: three sons Kiyon Lewis, Michael Jackson, and Donald Peterson of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters Laverne (Elder) Nash-Love and Shaton (Will) Nash-Taylor both of Ypsilanti, MI; grandson Christopher (Shontell) Nash, grand-daughters Brittany Nash, Mikea Jackson and Kinyeta Jackson and a host of other grandchildren, great-great nieces, nephews and other family, friends, and loved ones.
