On December 28, 1950, Trassie and Albertha Washington welcomed their third bundle of joy. LaVeone “Bon”, as she was affectionately called, was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She became the best little sibling to both Trassie, Jr. and Trazette Washington.
Margaret grew up in Ypsilanti Township, where she would become a lifelong Willow Run Flyer. She graduated from Willow Run High School in 1969. Afterwards, she continued her education at Cleary College. Margaret began her career working for Motor Wheel in Ypsilanti. A few years later, she started her next career with Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority [YCUA]. Margaret was passionate about people. As a result, she would become a dedicated union and United Way member. She retired from YCUA, after 27 years of service. Her attention and prowess didn’t go unnoticed in her Sugarbrook Neighborhood Watch group. Margaret made it her business to look out for everyone, especially her neighbors.
Margaret accepted Christ and was baptized, under the leadership of Rev. James Hammond, and became a lifelong member of Christ Temple Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was faithful in attending and participating in bible study, as well as supporting all her church’s programs.
While she loved to laugh, spend time with family, and watch her old-time TV shows, she enjoyed cooking and baking immensely.
After a mighty and resilient battle, God saw fit to call our beloved Margaret LaVeone to rest on the afternoon of Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She reunites with her father, Trassie Marion Washington, Sr.; her mother, Albertha Harrison Washington; her brother, Trassie Marion Washington, Jr.; her big sis, Bertha Trazette Washington; and her great-nephew, Eric Washington, Jr.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her resiliency, her nephew, Eric (Stephanie) Washington; nieces, Carmen Washington and Sheri Washington; great-niece, Shayla Robinson; great-nephews, Dimone Mannon, Tyrese Kennedy, Rian Kennedy, Marryon Kennedy, and Malachi Washington; great-niece, Azriel Tru Jones; great-grand nephew, Tru’ Eddie Samuel Robinson.
Special “Thank You” to a host of other family and friends that loved and helped Margaret LaVeone Washington along her journey.
Our Margaret will be remembered for her quiet strength, kindness, love, and steady presence in the lives of family, friends, neighbors and all those who knew and loved her. We’ll miss you LaVeone. We love you always.
