Jewell Audrey Taylor Obituary

Jewell Audrey Mansfield Taylor passed away on November 24, 2024. She was born to her loving parents John and Juanita Mansfield on October 13, 1945, in Indianapolis, IN.

In 1947, Jewell moved with her family to Ypsilanti, MI. She attended elementary and high school at the University Lab School at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI where she graduated in 1963. Jewell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts from Eastern Michigan University.

Jewell was a dedicated and passionate teacher of physically or otherwise health impaired students in the Washtenaw Intermediate School District for 34 years until her retirement in 2004.

Jewell was known for her many special interests and hobbies which included sewing, gardening, ice skating, biking, rollerblading and being a fanatical jazzerciser.  She was also a member of the Ann Arbor Fiber Arts Guild.  Jewell had a special love for baking which she did very well.  On many occasions, using her mother’s recipe, she would make dinner rolls that were always a delicious delight with the family.  Her specialty was “Dream Bars” which all the family looked forward to at family gatherings.

Jewell is survived by her extraordinary and loving partner, Mark Goodman (Ypsilanti, MI) daughter, Terral Taylor (Evanston, IL), son, Gregory Taylor (Milwaukee, WI), grandchildren, Francisca and Solomon Taylor (Evanston, IL),  sisters Judith Goodman (George) of Mackinac Island, Joyce Mansfield (Ypsilanti, MI), and nephews, George A. Goodman (Dexter, MI), Mark D. Goodman (Denver, CO) and Jon D. Grubbs (Atlanta, GA), along with extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved Chocolate Lab Hershey.
