Emily Marie Roquemore-Jackson passed away peacefully at her home in Willis, MI on March 12th, 2026.
Emily was born on August 3rd, 1956 in Detroit, MI. She grew up in a very musical family and spent much of her early years in church listening to the gospel music sang by her grandmother, mother, and aunt. Emily didn't sing, but played the saxophone in the marching band through high school.
After graduating from MacKenzie high school, Emily went on to serve her country in the United States Army as an autopsy assistant. After completing her military service, Emily enrolled at Wayne State University, earned an associate degree in mortuary science, and became a licensed mortician.
Emily later built a long career in the automotive industry. After transferring between multiple factories around southeastern Michigan, Emily settled at the Ford plant in Saline, Michigan; eventually retiring from Ford Motor Company after 30 years. A proud United Auto Workers (UAW) member, she remained involved with the union until her passing.
In retirement, Emily found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved watching racing whenever she could. She also had a passion for gardening, enjoyed trying new restaurants, talking with friends on the phone, and making jewelry.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandmother, Emma Moody; her mother, Doris Settles; her daughter, Denice Roquemore; her husband, Jerry Jackson; her aunt and uncle Charles and Shirley Lusby; and her cousin Nora Celeste Mustafaa.
She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Ransom and Tracy Roquemore; her granddaughters, Audrey Roquemore, Starleesha Turnbull, and Daneisha Turnbull; and her cousin Charlotte Lusby.
Emily will always be remembered for her grit, work-ethic, and sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
