Edward Reveire Obituary

Edward (Ed) Reveire’s journey began in Tallahassee, Florida, on November 10, 1934, as the youngest of four children born to the late Claude and Rebecca Reveire. His early years were marked by a sense of adventure, leading him to enlist in the United States Army in 1957. While in the military, Ed showcased his talent in the boxing ring, earning recognition in the lightweight division.

Ed relocated to Michigan, where he found love and married Mattie (Bea). Their union brought forth two daughters, Kimberly, and Sheryl. A family man at his core, Ed's commitment to his family was unbreakable.

Ed’s unwavering love for the Lord drove him to Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he became a member in the 60’s. He later became a deacon and trustee. He found fulfillment in mentoring through the Laymen Ministry. Ed also enjoyed attending Mt. Hermon where he could hear his son-in-law (Phillip) preach.

Ed's professional journey led him to Bekin/Godfrey/Mayflower Moving Company, where his hard work and efficiency left a lasting impact. Customers sought Ed's services specifically, recognizing his exceptional skills in the moving craft. A man of many talents, he was also known for his handiness, ability to build, and a great sense of humor that persisted until the end of his life. Edward's humorous sayings, like "kicking but not too high" and "I’m going to see a turkey take a trot," became cherished aspects of his personality.

Beyond work, Ed found joy in gardening, showcasing his nurturing side, and traveling to Tallahassee to visit family. Retirement didn't slow him down; he frequented Curry's Barbershop enjoying meals and fellowship with his buddies.

Ed leaves behind a legacy of 62 years of marriage with his wife, Mattie, and the love and memories he shared with his three daughters, Pamela (Bernard) Davis, Kimberly (Phillip) Ferrell, and Sheryl Reveire. His grandchildren, Darion Davis, Shandrea Davis, Phillip Ferrell II, Dion Ferrell, Alishia (Derrek) Anderson, great-grandchildren, Joia, Israel, Dylan, Kylie Grace, Brenton, Micah, Eva Grace, Prince Phillip, Grayson, Haven Grace, Gavin and Olivia Grace and godson, Aaron Walker, a host of nieces and nephews, reflect the depth of his family bonds. Though he has left this earthly realm, Ed is preceded in death by his parents, great-grandson Derrek Jr. (DJ), and siblings Precious, Ida Mae, and JT (Jake).

As Ed takes his final rest, may his love of the Lord, sense of humor, dedication to family, and zest for life be remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
