Donovan E. Bowerbank of Ann Arbor was born October 25, 1958, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2026. Donovan attended Kingston College in Jamaica, and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1984, with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering. He married Jennifer in 1993. He built a meaningful and lasting memory in Michigan, where he became a beloved father, mentor, coach, co-worker, and friend.
He is survived by his daughter Leah, his siblings Joy, Rashid, Shoshana, and Dean. He also had many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Claud and Ida Gloria, and sister Pandita.
Donovan was a lifelong student of God’s word, and a member of His army for His kingdom. He led many people to his Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
He worked as an Activity Therapist at Mott Children’s Hospital in the Child Life department. During his 30 years there, he mentored many children and their families. He enabled children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries to engage in normal childhood activities, and cope with their time in the hospital. His work reflected the compassion, patience, and encouragement that defined who he was.
That same passion shaped him as a soccer coach. As a co-founder and longtime coach of Ann Arbor United Soccer Club, Donovan spent more than 30 years mentoring young players, and leading teams to the highest levels of success in youth soccer.
To those who knew him best, Donovan will be remembered for his quiet strength and dedication to the lives of others.
