CHARLES MORRIS 1-28-1938 APRIL 3, 2024
Charles Morris passed away on Wednesday, April 3,2024. He was born on January 28,
1938 in Detroit, Michigan. Shortly afterwards, his parents (Edward and Vivian), moved to
Ypsilanti, Michigan. Charles remained a resident of Ypsilanti until his death.
Charles graduated from Ypsilanti High School and attended Ferris State University. In
l960, he joined the United States Navy. He served four years in the Navy receiving an
honorable discharge in 1964.
After leaving the Navy, Charles was employed by the Ford Motor Company. In 1967 he
met his wife, Gloria. They were married on September 21, 1968.
Charles left the Ford Motor Company in 1971. He began working for the Ann Arbor
Public School District. Charles worked in the district’s Out Reach Department which was at
that time part of the Ann Arbor Public Library. He retired in 2003 after 32 years of service.
Charles enjoyed his retirement spending most of his free time fishing with his fishing
buddies (Sonnie Parm and Casey Campbell), and hunting with William Clay, Malcolm Howard,
Claude Pettus and Jessie Williams. He also enjoyed repairing and reconditioning bicycles.
In addition to his wife Gloria, survivors include his son, William Morris, grandchildren
and great grandchildren. His siblings David Greaves(Burnice),Timothy Stewart ( Keying), and
several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Huron Valley Humane Society (3100
Cherry Hill Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105) or a charity of your choice.
