Carl Edward Singleton was born August 5, 1958 in Newellton, Louisiana to Isaac and Lucy Singleton. Carl departed this life, surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Trinity Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Carl moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1973 with his parents and attended Forsythe Middle School and Pioneer High School.
He worked various jobs including painting and construction. However, he was most known for cooking and his great barbecue skills. He worked in Ann Arbor for Mr. Rib’s for several years and was given the nickname of “lil rib”. Carl enjoyed barbecuing and laughing and talking with customers and friends as they stopped by.
Later in life, Carl was united in marriage to Laura Clark on February 3, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Lucy Singleton and sister, Minnie Nicholson.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, His wife, Laura Singleton; daughter, Carlette Singleton; three stepchildren, Teisha Clark, Julien Clark, and Joshua Davis; brother, Isaac Singleton Jr.; sisters, Margaret Ridley (Winnie-deceased), Ella Louise Bailey; Bobbie Ransome (Willie); and Sarah Singleton. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
