Alfornia Smith Obituary

On October 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, Alfornia “Al” Smith entered into eternal rest. He was born on June 24, 1938, to Willie and Ernestine Smith in Madison, Mississippi. After receiving his education there, he later moved to Michigan. In September 1967, he married Catherine Rowls, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. Al was a devoted father to Marcus, Fonda, and Crystal. All of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Al retired from General Motors after more than two decades of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and working on cars. He was active in his church, faithfully serving in various capacities.

Al is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Marcus, Fonda, and Crystal; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five siblings; two goddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was one of ten siblings and was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Al’s strength, humor, and kind spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
