Sadie Isom Obituary

Ms. Sadie Isom, (77) was born on October 3, 1942 in Parma, Missouri to John and Ida Isom. She passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on May, 24, 2020 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Ms. Sadie received Christ at an early age and remained a faithful believer throughout her life. She was a prayer warrior who read her bible daily. Her favorite spiritual song is Beautiful Garden of Prayer by James Cleveland.

Ms. Sadie grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan with her siblings. After having children of her own, she moved her family from Benton Harbor to Ann Arbor, MI in the early 70’s to further her education. She graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.

Ms. Sadie was an oasis of sweetness. She was a beautiful caring matriarch to many, and known for her unconditional loving spirit. Her home was a welcome and inclusive place to everyone, and thus her family was large. She enjoyed family gatherings, reading novels, and Sudoku. She was a pure soul, emitting peace and calm. She opened her mouth with wisdom and played a big part in the lives of her family. Always encouraging others to be positive, and would often say “don’t be like that” or “hold your head up.” Whenever someone needed a listening ear she was available, even after working tirelessly all day. She was an example of a virtuous woman!

Ms. Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Johnson, one grandson, Dwan Isom, and one infant son, Anthony Isom. Her six brothers; Odell, T.J., Johnny, O.C., Herbert, and Leo Isom, three sisters; Ruth Isom, Francis Smith, and Dorthy Guyton. She was the youngest and last of 10 siblings to depart this earth.

Ms. Sadie leaves to cherish her precious memories; her loving children Valencia Isom (Andrew Campbell) of Ann Arbor, MI; Fred Blackmon Jr. (Mary Blackmon) of Ann Arbor, MI; Alisa Isom of Ann Arbor, Sherrell Blackmon of Ann Arbor, MI; MI; Eric X Isom of Ann Arbor, MI; Corey Isom of Ann Arbor, MI; and Kiara Isom of Westland, MI. Ms. Sadie has 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, her special “daughters” Gale Lambert and Linda Dumas, and many more.

“BE NICE, BE KIND, SMILE AND SHOW LOVE!”

Her loving words and memory will always be in our hearts.
