Aldwin Terence Christian

February 11, 1955 - January 8, 2022

OBITUARY Aldwin Terence Christian (affectionally called “Alvin” by his family & close friends) was born on February 11, 1955, to Rev. Hazel C. Christian and Nancy Lee (Scott) Christian in Fort Smith, Arkansas. His Christian training began at home, and at St James Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he was baptized at an early age. At the age of 12, Aldwin moved North with his family to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he attended Hull Jr. High School, and later graduated from Benton Harbor High School. While in high school, Aldwin studied Auto Mechanics, and after graduating, held several jobs in Auto Body Shops as a Jr. Mechanic. Aldwin later moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan where he continued cultivating his skills. Aldwin loved cars and enjoyed working on them. He loved playing pool, listening to jazz, cooking on the grill, and going out to eat. He was an avid weightlifter; enjoyed ice fishing; and later, driving semi-trucks for his last employer. He worked until he could no longer drive trucks, due to his failing health. Aldwin united with The Bible Church of Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1999, and for the last five to six years of his life, served as a faithful member, attending Sunday School, Wednesday night Bible Study, participating in the men’s ministry, the men’s prayer group, the men’s choir, supported the Right to Life ministry, served as driver for the Vacation Bible School, served in the Soul Fishers Ministries, and even repaired cars for many members of his church family. He peacefully departed this life from labor to reward at his home on January 8, 2022. Aldwin was preceded in death by his parents: Rev. Hazel C. Christian and Nancy Lee (Scott) Christian; his paternal grandparents: Robert Lee Christian and Lula Christian; his maternal grandparents: John Calvin Scott and Willie Estella (Porter) Scott. Aldwin leaves to cherish his memory his four daughters: Henrietta Denice Jones of Benton Harbor, Michigan; Ty (Donavon) Weaver-Morrow of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Kamesha (Lonnie) Dong of Houston, Texas; Tamika Clark of Dallas Texas; one son: Terrence Wallace of Kalamazoo, Michigan; three brothers: Hazel Christian, Jr. (Punch) of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Elder Samuel Christian of Richland, Michigan; and K’John (Jody) Christian of Holland, Michigan; four sisters: Lula (Christian) Jackson, Min. Audree (Christian) Rodgers, Tamblyn Christian, Nancy Christian, all of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Mary Christian of Fredericksburg, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, his church family, and other relatives and friends.
