Albertha Georgiana Joseph was born on June 4, 1928 in Wesley,
Dominica to Egbert and Rose Joseph. She was affectionally
known as “Tabor.” Albertha accompanied her husband, the love
of her life, John Wonderful Joseph, and migrated to St. Croix,
United States Virgin Islands where they raised their seven
children and later moved to Michigan where they enjoyed their
later years together.
Albertha’s life was a very fulfilled one. One of the highlights of
her life was her baptism and membership into the Seventh Day
Adventist faith. Albertha enjoyed humming her favorite hymns
and reciting scriptures.
Albertha was a very unique woman. Loved by everyone, she
became a mother figure to everyone who came to know her. She
was that calm spirit that everyone enjoyed talking to and spending
time with.
As a family woman, she was a great example of what a wife
represents, reflective in her dedication to her husband while he
laid sick for the years before his death.
Albertha enjoyed spending time with her children, laughing,
talking and being silly. There was no joyful activity she was not
excited to be a part of. Being one of 26 children, she was no
stranger to large family gatherings and spreading lots of love
around.
Albertha lovingly introduced to the world nine children:
Carrington Joseph – deceased at childhood; Macoliff Joseph
(Violet Fleming-Joseph) – Michigan; Sharon Joseph – Michigan;
John Joseph – Commonwealth Dominica; Tabitha Riley (Doc
Riley) – Michigan; Valory Brown-Tooson (Lee Tooson) –
Michigan; Vixie Joseph-Smith – Michigan; Palestrina Joseph-
Stoute (Algernon Stoute) – Michigan; and Sabacher St.Amie –
Florida. Albertha was blessed to enjoy 22 grandchildren, many great
grandchildren: Petrice Lewis, Natalie Stanley, Macoliff Joseph, Jr.,
Kenesha Joseph, Alexander Celestine, Jr., Ahjamah Andrews,
Allan Tomlinson, Clinton Desir, Florence (Okesha) Roberts,
Bertlyn Riley, Chantell Riley, Danielle Riley, Ebony Riley, Berg
Bully, Nicole Brown, Roland Tooson, Marcus Smith
Ishmel Davis, Malcolm Davis, Keosha Davis, Jemour Stoute, and
Ashlee Stoute.
Albertha leaves to mourn her passing, her children, grandchildren,
great grandchildren, seven siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews
and friends.
